First Tuesday Is a monthly support and enrichment program for married couples of at any age or faith who want to enrich their married life, discuss common concerns with other married couples, and continue growing together.

We believe that every married couple needs encouragement and support. We believe that a good marriage takes time, attention, and tender loving care.

None of us is an "expert". None of us has a perfect marriage. We are married people who share common experiences, common problems, common hopes, and common fears. We welcome the opportunity to meet other married couples who share our commitnment to married life.

First Tuesday meets monthly (except during July and August) on the first Tuesday evening of each month. Meetings are open to the public. There is no registration or fee.

Interested couples may attend regularly each month, or occasionally from time to time, depending upon their time, interest, or personal needs.

Each meeting is conducted by married couples who know first hand the rewards and challenges of married life. Each meeting is divided into two sections:
A presentation by a married couple on some aspect of married life, following by a discussion of the topic;
A "open forum" in which anyone can express concerns or ask questions about any aspect of married life.

First Tuesday is designed for couples who experience the normal tensions, fears and challenges of married life. It is not a therapy group for "troubled" marriages.(Couples participating in professional marriage counseling may find First Tuesday supportive as a supplement to professional therapy.)

The informal atmosphere of First Tuesday encourages couples to share their own concerns, but no one is forced to participate. Each person's observation are treated with repsect. Couples are discouraged from giving advice or evaluating another person's observations.

Often, the most valuable sharing occurs later, when a couple shares privately with each other.

First Tuesday is designed for married couples. Couples will benefit the most if they attend as a couple, but individual married persons are welcome to attend when that is necessary.

First Tuesday is sponsored by Catholic Parishes in the Waterloo Deanery. The program is coordinated by Waterloo Diocore, the professional organization of Religious Education Directors and coordinators.
