Blessed Sacrament is a Catholic Elementary school for children preschool-grade 8. featuring before, during and after school childcare. Blessed Sacrament is one of four elementary schools and one high school in the Cedar Valley Catholic Education System.
'The mission of our school and system is to provide quality Catholic education to our students and to nurture Christian Values and attitudes that will influence children throughout life. Our school provides the faith atmosphere which is supportive of the development of Christian family values. 'Our staff works diligently to develop in students the skill and knowledge which are the basis of a strong academic program. In addition, we offer experiences to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually in a caring, supportive Christian environment. Our teachers meet the needs of each student individually and in appropriate group settings using a variety of innovative teaching techniques/styles with the integration of technology.
Faculty =12 full time and 4 part time or shared., 6 with Masters, 10 with BA degrees . Students: Blessed Sacrament average class size is 19.5 students and the ratio is 14 to 1 of teachers/students. Minority students comprise 9.6% of our enrollment. Non-Catholic students comprise 2% of our enrollment. Students qualifying for free and/or reduced lunch is 25%.
Accreditation: Blessed Sacrament provides an academic curriculum approved by the Archdiocese of Dubuque and certified by the State of Iowa and is staffed by faculty accredited by the State of Iowa. Parish: Blessed Sacrament has 1100 registered parish families. Subsidy of Blessed Sacrament School is 50 % of the parish budget Tuition & Fees: 2005-2006 Tuition is $1250. and non parishioner is $1,900 Any preschool fee = Five day preschool = $950, 4 day = $850, and 3 day = $750 per year. (not just nonparishioner) Co-curricular: Activities in vocal and instrumental music, art, speech, and service opportunities throughout the Waterloo area. Athletics: Blessed Sacrament boys and girls compete in the Metropolitan Parochial Athletic Association. Sports at Blessed Sacrament include: volleyball, football, wrestling, basketball, track, softball, and baseball. Support: The Waterloo Parks and Recreation Art Departments, the Mudd Group, and Mauer Eye Center are "Partners in Excellence" with Blessed Sacrament. AREA Education Agency-267 services includes psychologist, speech clinician, educational strategist and others. Shalon Frye is our counselor. This year also we have added Spanish to the Curriculum. Students have Spanish classes twice a week.
