Blessed Sacrament Music Ministry

The Community of Blessed Sacrament encourages all parishioners to take part in the Liturgies and other services by actively participating in the sung responses and hymns. If you feel you are called into a fuller music ministry, there are many opportunities to use your talents.

ADULT CHOIR: The Adult Choir practices every Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. - 8:15p.m. The choir sings three weekends a month from September through May, rotating mass times each week.

Voices In Praise (VIP): The VIP's will welcome anyone who wants to sing or play flute, guitar, or other instruments, with our present group which consists of a guitar/piano with voices. We play once a month at the Sunday 8:30 a.m. Mass. We practice one hour before the mass time.

We have a small music group that sings only contemporary music once a month at the Sunday 10:30 a.m. Mass which is meant to appeal to younger people.

CANTORS: The role of the cantor is to lead the congregation in singing the Psalms and hymns.

INSTRUMENTALISTS: We have organists, pianists, and guitarists who help lead in the singing. Other instruments, such as trumpets, flutes, clarinets, etc. are used on special occasions.

If you are interested in joining any of these groups, or serving as a cantor or instrumentalist contact:
Music Coordinator Deacon John Herman 319-233-7852 or you can reach him at the Rectory office 319-233-6179.
