Liturgy Committee

Mission Statment

We the Liturgy Committe commit to Spiritual renewal of Blessed Sacrament Community, fostering devout active participation through greater understanding of the rites and prayers of the Liturgy.

The Liturgy Committee is a group of parishioners who meet the third Tuesday of each month September through May to study, prepare, assign, rehearse, motivate, orchestrate and evaluate all the components of the Liturgy. Although the nucleus of this committee is relatively small it relies on commitment of hundreds of dedicated volunteers working together to provide a smoothly flowing, meaningful experience through each of the liturgical seasons. The committee works in cooperation with Pastor Father Denny and Pastoral Assistant Sister Madonna Friedman who provide their leadership and expertise.

In addition to liturgical seasons the committee enjoys preparing liturgical celebrations for national holidays that embrace religious concepts. As an example, Blessed Sacrament has established a tradition of creating a bountiful harvest by generous donations of food staples to be given to the poor as a part of our Thanksgiving celebration.

With the name Blessed Sacrament we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi as our namesake feast day. Our celebration includes a procession of the Eucharist to the Eucharistic Chapel led by Eucharistic ministers as candle bearers and first communicant's of the past year.

The committee is blessed with members who also serve on the Parish Council and can carry our requests to the Council. The remainder of the committee consists of parishioners who have a love for the liturgy, a scrutinizing eye for evaluation, an ability to communicate and the willingness to serve.

A number of subcommittees work under the guidance of the Liturgy Committee. The Eucharist Ministers, Greeters, Lectors, Musicians, and the Environment Committee receive their direction from the Liturgy committee. Workshops are offered regularly for all ministers along with an appreciation events for all ministers.
